Lake Washington Saddle Club schedule for 2014

Lake Washington Saddle  Club looks like it has a fun year of events ahead. Playdays, hunter shows, dressage shows. Even if you don't have a horse ready or a trailer to get  your horse there, you can benefit by volunteering.

Looking forward to sunlight

It's another rainy day so I'm at home looking through some photos. Here is our photo of the day, a charming fellow in beautiful Shelton. Glowing in the sunlight.

Wild Horses Sculpture in Vantage

You can see this collection of metal silhouettes just east of Vantage, WA after crossing the bridge over the Columbia River on Interstate 90.  It's an easy climb up from the parking lot if you want to see the view from that perspective.  Use the eastbound off-ramp.
There are fifteen of these life-size sculptures created by David Govadare . It's too bad some people feel the need to leave graffiti. Fortunately, it doesn't show from a distance.

Not Just Horses

I can trim other animals in addition to horses. Even the occasional rooster's spurs.

Checking the Fences

Enumclaw

Midwinter is a good time of year to walk the fence lines to check for damage and weakness caused by horses, wind, fallen trees and heavy snow. Some damage is disguised in summer by thick foliage. If you're covering a large area, you can bring along fluorescent orange tape to mark the spots that need repair.  Bring a thermos of coffee and a friend and make it fun.  A fix in time saves expensive vet bills later.
