Midwinter is a good time of year to walk the fence lines to check for damage and weakness caused by horses, wind, fallen trees and heavy snow. Some damage is disguised in summer by thick foliage. If you're covering a large area, you can bring along fluorescent orange tape to mark the spots that need repair. Bring a thermos of coffee and a friend and make it fun. A fix in time saves expensive vet bills later.
